I've been about 12 times with a friend.
Advice: first the boring stuff. Take a tent, don't leave things in it that you can't afford to get stolen, wear shoes or boots you can walk all day in on rough fields, cover your head in the sun, take toilet roll.
Once the basics are covered, try out different stages - there are around 17 in all so don't just stick to the Pyramid headliners, take a look at the non-music side of the festival (circus field, etc - fairly magical by night), get drunk, talk to strangers, check out the Meeting Place Cafe in the Acoustic Field (we nickname it 'Beards and Pancakes' - it's run by some sort of religious sect) - it has chairs to sit on, a roof over your head, and does excellent food, check out the Guardian Lounge (going towardsthe New Bands or is it the John Peel Stage) - it's in a part of the campsite that floods when it rains, but a good place to chill.
Don't over-plan, and have fun
